What are RECAST Activities?
What are RECAST activities? Using simplified causal models when they don't fit can distort concepts. RECAST activities are designed to REveal CAusal STructure or help students RECAST their explanation by drawing their attention to the underlying causal structure. By showing outcomes that don’t fit with a simple causal pattern, students realize that a different causal pattern is involved.
This section explains RECAST Activities in detail; offers examples; guides you in deciding when a RECAST activity is needed and offers suggestions for developing your own.
